and here we go again. god! do i ever get beat up around here.
we all buy what they sell us. bigger rims are in so its hard to get 15s now.
wider tires came in style in the 80s. every body wanted bfg 33x12. it was like wearing nikes. just had to have them. do we all know what degrees of inclination is? its another numbers game. weight to lbs per square inch = traction and how steep u can travel. or overall traction. truly! if u see a guy in a 60s short box ford with 35x8s. skinny pizza cutters. hes from bc and he plays in the bush and he dont like to get stuck or dig or get out his winch. just look at what the army uses. have u noticed our armies bombardier jeeps? they are a german designed Volkswagen built by bombardier. dubbed the europa jeep.
they dont want us to have army grade tires. too capable. they are considered a weapon. why!! unstoppable. bias ply. can run flat and best traction and highest degree of inclination. do they need bead locks? the pics have waht go on trackers 6x30 n 6x32. these jeeps are small. id like to get my hands on one.
a 5000lb truck wont float on any bog with 12 inch wide tires. a tracker will. do the math. 2000lbs is equal to a 30 inch wide tire. lol. but with floating u almost get no lbs per square inch. to go up the same hill the tracker would need 5 in wide. but we are not taking into consideration the effect the spaces in between the treads. depending if ur on a hard surface or not. on mud those space do help u float. on hard surfaces those space let ur treads get more lbs/sq in. there are lots of considerations. but bc is all mountains.
that heavy old ford on pizza cutters is a tree remover. thats the kind of traction it has. and the the angle of inclination is hitting 40 degrees. he can also drive home at 160 km. 30 degrees is a great angle of inclanation for any vehicle. rover and tracker standard. not jeeps? hmmmm! my brother used to love his 3/4 ton chev with them old 16 8 bolt tires. i bet he was getting over 35 degrees. anyone with a 5000 lb truck with 33s isnt hitting 25 degrees. 4000lb and 33s maybe. my tracker with 30 x9.5 i bet is only hitting 20 degrees. i doubt 25 with stock tires. and thats why u have to drive fast jump and have a skid pan. if i aint doing 90 at the bottom i aint going anywhere. and this is why we learn to jump our trackers. and its a lot of fun.
tires are big subject. so post ur thoughts. and what uve found that works. im just scratching the surface in tires.
skinner the tire the taller the tire u can get under ur rig. wide tires tend to hit inner fender walls. factory rims almost always work. rule of thumb is for every 2inches thinner u can can go 1 inch taller. 8s in stead of 12 is 35 not 33s.
army believes in skid pans. lol
BTW if you don't want to get beatin up as you say accept other peoples views, don't expect everyone to jump in ur boat and expect to get picked apart when you post like a Cracker on a tangent.
They were Iltis's and the biggest pieces of crap I have ever drove lucky to get 80kmh downhill with a tail wind. Yeah they were great to bash around in as a Civie but left a lot to be desired compared to other general purpose military vehicles Canadian Forces have been using the Mercedes G-wagens for over 12 years in overseas deployments because of the shortcomings of the Iltis. I still remember being shot at in Bosnia and couldn't get the dam things to move much faster than an old tired out '60s VW bug specially with 4 big dudes and all the patrol gear. Yes I totally agree the skinny tire is the best for certain types of terrain where it's about digging down to get traction but other times you need floatation when no matter how far you dig you won't find solid ground under you tire before sitting on your frame.
Pardon my ignorance as I am new to these forums, but it seems that every time you post something Guru, it's as though you are trying to justify driving a close to stock tracker, which is all fine and dandy...but in doing so you come across as telling everyone else that "if you have bigger tires you're wasting money as bigger tires are no good" "IFS are better than straight axle because I like to go fast and jump" I've also seen you post bashing some ones rig because of the way it looks. I get it everyone has their own opinion but just because you say something doesn't make it true.
For every picture you can find of a military vehicle on skinny tires, I can find one with wide tires. I'm not sure why the military would run skinny tires in say.....the desert.
The military is going to adjust to the terrain just as I would, for now I'm running a little wider because I enjoy going into the soft muddy areas and like having the extra rubber on the ground.
Pardon my ignorence beer-n-meat as I'm new here too, but until you jump a Suby at 160kph on a logging with an old Pepsi sign as a skid plate, you don't know sh*t! haha. j/k.
I would excuse your ignorence but you just can't seem to learn that the proper way to overcome obsticles (including mud holes) is to take flight and land on the other side! But of course, you would never have that capibility with that sh*tty, obsolete, rock crawling, solid front axle set up so maybe it's best you stick to your wide tires lol.
whos ride did i bash! im a military jeep buff! they arent made by dodge. cj= civilian jeep. oh u mean the crapachie! ask fatty! soccer mom car! lol! u wouldnt believe the names the trackers are called. do you think i made them names up! so this is ur argument; to cut me instead. or yourself. just means u dont have argument to stand on. thanks. all u can do is stick words in my mouth i never said. u just help my point. im against anything that might hurt someone! or is illegal! this is a newbie site. we want to teach the young the proper safe way. we all did decide that anything with 4doors is a soccer mom's wagon. its a car!
humvees are the fast platform. the iltis is for mountains and trees. not public roads that are above 80km. the tires are rated for under 80km. we are trying to be safe in the woods. u dont have to go very fast if u can just drive behind a rock or a tree to hide from bullets. read the argument on straight axles vs ifs! i cant argue back and forth this thread was about tires. if u dont understand that the iltis is made for virgin terrain ur blind. i posted the drawings. are canadain forces boys arent wrong. neither are Belgiums. or vw and bombardier for making them. other than the prairies canada is covered in trees and rocks and is covered mostly by trails.
has anyone seen a desert on vancouver island. this is vancouver island off road?
ya! u only need wide tires for sand. and to slide off dirt roads at higher speeds. wide tires turn gravel into marbles. skinny tires are best on gravel roads. also for traction of any kind. for higher degree of inclination. what kind of tread might help u out in some odd places like a bog. big wide tires are also good for crawling. they will bounce u around. less skill in driving.
it should also b said: its the opposite for traction on the paved road, other than snow, than the dirt. wider will stick ur ass to the pavement better than skinny. there a balance race car drivers call letting go. a wider tire will stick at higher g forces. its about sticking and not lbs per square inch. rain, oil, snow, dry, hot, type of pavement all dictate what tires best. but in dirt its lbs/square inch. rocks are another story and thats a true argument.
ive always said tires are number one. jacking up ur vehicles to put massive tires on is something that isnt necessary. u can get 33s under any smaller vehicles cheaply. with out making them illegal or unsafe. 35 in most cases. most full size u can get 37 under. that is all ifs with a simple 2 inch body lift and a 2 inch suspension lift. thats like 400 bucks to most guys. skid pans will save ur truck and u can drag it anywhere. if u go thinner u can gpo taller. wide tires are for sand. haw many of u ever drive in the beach? thats a california cool thing. not a bc mountain climber thing. its a bout angle of decent
that was quite rude of u byte me. this is my thread. im posting what ive learned. was it too technical for you. its hard to write out flowing essays. its not like i rewrite them.
i accept others views! but why point them at me. cause i said something? if some one disagrees with me and post it. am i not allowed to refute it? thats keeping ones head in the sand if i dont. theres a big difference in stating something and just arguing! please state and stop arguing. i am allowed to post what i like on my thread. its wrong of u to make it personal because u dont agree. what ever u do state please back it up or your waisting everyones time
I'm sorry I struck a nerve Guru, I wasn't trying to get into a pissing match with you....just pointing out an observation I made. I simply gave you my opinion on your posts and reactions to others posts.
I'm not going to dig up old threads or waste my time re-reading some of the drivel you provide to this forum but I remember the member was BeRadical and I believe you went as far as threatening to call DOT if you ever seen him driving on the road (not word for word but close enough).
Nowhere in your OP did you state we were strictly speaking of VI when debating tire choice.
And FYI....my tires don't slide off of "dirt roads" as I spend most of my time "Offroad"
Anyways I'm not going to continue having a battle of wits with an unarmed man...it's simply not fair.
I have to respond to this jibber jabber that was posted earlier... it reads as follows:
"im against anything that might hurt someone! or is illegal! this is a newbie site. we want to teach the young the proper safe way. we all did decide that anything with 4doors is a soccer mom's wagon. its a car!"
We decided anything with 4 doors is a car?'
I'm not certain I agree... and who exactly decided that?
My Jeep has 4 doors... but I've never been out wheeled by a Tracker. Does this mean that Trackers are no more capible than a car?
Two door vs four door XJ's - have the exact same wheel base, ground clearance & drive train... the doors are just larger on a two door.
To me, saying that a vehicle is a soccer moms 'car' because it has 4 doors is like saying that a 2-door is a fat persons car because they need bigger doors.
Maybe there's something I missed prior to this post that provides explanation - but from what I can see I don't understand.
Look at rock racers!!! i rest my case. 4 link suspension, solid axles, big tires, low cg.
and i was at the top of benson yesterday on top of the snow with my 35" 12s at 13 psi in a 97 tj and a 95 yj with skinny pizza cutters was breaking thro the snow and sitting on the axles, all 4 tires spinning. in short have the right tool for the job!
The Forces don't always operate in forest and terrain like Vancouver Island you may be a military vehicle buff but don't know anything about getting shot at by something bigger than a hunting rifle. So the safe way is 160kmph and jump every obstacle in the bush just shows that you haven't grown up I hope the cops catch you driving like that one day and you shouldn't be teaching noobs to do that. The Iltis was built for Belgian and western Europe terrain when the cold war was still on and even then it left a lot to desired. Ask any Canadian Forces Vet who had to drive or ride in them they'll set you straight like I am trying. I have been shot at while overseas serving Canada and the Iltis was not what was required equipment. It was mostly meant as a light observation vehicle not a GP(general purpose) vehicle. Again you can't stand someone with more experience telling you their opinion and that they are putting words in you mouth. You sir are the meaning of a troll you post a comment just to get rise out people. Plus your info is just your rambling not actual facts are they not or just stuff you quickly goggled.. I did not attack you personally but you seem to take anything said opposite of what you believe is a personal attack. I spent 8 years in the CF as well as Cadets as a teen so I know what I'm talking about when dealing with Iltis. Not too many people agree with you that all 4 doors are soccer moms cars but reality is your tracker is one as well being IFS was originally built for comfort for guess who the average buyer like soccer moms.
so beer n meat now ur calling me names again! u didnt hit a nerve. ur used a derogatory term to describe my writing style. thats rude! u made it personal because u dont like what i said or dont understand what i mean. now u say that id call someone if they were driving illegally. ur putting words in my mouth. im trying to share the laws so its a sport and not some drinking driving fest. to warn people!
its a criminal offence to drink and drive other than on your own private property. anyone and everyone will call the cops if ur drinking and driving! and everyones got a cell phone. theres also so many cameras in the woods. u took my warning as being a nark. u post here. did u not think cops have 4 wheel drives n join clubs too.
this is public domain. think of it like posting in front of the cop shop. they just love to hunt guys down and impound ur vehicle and take away your license. we all drink in the woods. but not drink drive and shoot. like them old days. theres just too many people and cameras around. this sport is dying because of all the illegal goings on. where ya been the last 20 yrs? get busted 3 times loose ur licence for life! i didnt make the rules im just trying to make this into a safe fun legal sport. wouldnt it be nice to get a wheeling park on the island? or at least some land set aside for us boys. i know the guys in victoria would sure appreciate it. it wont ever happen if we all dont follow the rules. we cant even discuss illegal stuff here. they bust half the people now by fb and other social medias. youtube postings too. :)
who gets shot at here??????? i dont like vws that much either. i did built a cool baha bug back in the 80s. only car i ever owned i could pull a wheely. and i had 427 rat engines in camaros. no motor in front in a bug. :) maybe the people wrabbit or vw not the same as the army vw like the it!!! ill ask one of the boys here why we use vw ilts!! i do know one thing. harley davidson won the first ww1 by 2 men on a harley screaming in with a side car firing a tommy gun. and ww2 it was a a spit fire doing the same. now u know why we have bikers and an airport in every town on vancouver island. its the queens second home. she keeps her boys close. pre 70s nothing in army went over 80kmh. the hummvee is a caple of 200km easy on any ruff terrain. i used have a blazer that was like that too.
byte me! the tracker is a capable jeep. thats why they made it. its a fun toy i admit. useless in the snow. too light. so why would u think its a soccer mom wagon? wagons are 4 doors for one. 4drs was an after thought in chevs mind. ive have many vehicles. i just speak of the tracker to get more people to come out. i must say the least amount of money for the most fun id say tracker. but not the most capable. id say a tacoma blazer ford jeeps old willys were the most capablest. all full size short box pick ups. many including dodge 1990 to 2000 have factory lockers.
rds! 2 degress warmer and ud be sitting on ur axles too. 2 degrees colder and buddy would have been floating on the snow as well. all ice will hold the skinniest tires. try driving on a frozen lake sometime. its the balance of weather here near zero. or if the road got sun. u went up on a melting day. just by fluke u didnt sink. and whats a pizza cutter to you? 26inch? 36 inch? 48 inc. its a bout weight to width. a full size chev weighs 5000lbs a tracker weighs 2000lbs. the tracker or willys jeep will float the same as u do on a 12 inch wide as a tracker does on a 5 inch wide. for every 2 iches thinner u can go 1 inch taller aswell. also snows another sport altogether. does ms mean snow n mud? then why do they have snow flake rating aswell on tires? most of us have m and s. snowflake rating is a newer softer tire. i dont know for sure!!!! i dont play in the snow. id think id have to buy new tires every year. in u have m n s they arent very good once they are below 0c. snow flakes stay soft below 0c.
i make these post to share ideas. i do use ur arguments to prove points. but all i hear is bitching and derogatory comments to the writer. im trying to help people to have a fun safe experience. to get all them soccer moms in their 4 runners and pathfinders to come on out and play. there is a reason toyota makes a land cruiser. amybe you all should look into it. also why they call the modern jeep cj n yj. and understand the trackers made in canada. we dont have the same army red tape as the american. they did cut up every mutt ever made. thats the 50s t0 90 ford m151 mut or m152 tac. cj stands for civilian jeep. now why would they call it that and yet cut up 5 million ford jeeps? they could have got great coin for them. :) and im a chev guy. keep ur heads in the sand and ull eat my dust. or snow! :)
island explorer! hey that was the argument 2 weeks ago. faty said something. but it is obvious. 4 doors are for kids. would u like a list of capable units. every company makes one. its in how tight the diff plates are. how much wheel travel. up to 4x the cost for a spring in a land cruiser over a 4 runner. why are jeeps and trackers and rovers and so many others are rigid framed. no flex? even the grand cherokee and its uni body is rigid. subarus too. i thinks its about beating ur vehicle up 40degree inclination. but that is another post. where the gas tank was, used to be a big thing in the 80s. how tight u can turn is so important. thats what really makes it obvious. especially in the trees. so what make it off road. 4 doors is a good sign but one of the best has always been a 4 door. but its russian m159 army grade uaz. original is the first pic. 50s to the 90 it was made. it is the russian jeep. same specs as a 4 dr tracker or vitara. older uaz are straight axle. 80s and newer are ifs! thats 30yrs ago. ud think there be some kind of new tech. id sure like to test one out. most 4 doors. the front doors are exact as the 2 doors. only a few types are different. usually the worst kind of after thought 4dr. its why toyaota makes land cruiser and 4 runner. rover makes a standard rover and range and defender! ur fooled by the name jeep! it actually stands for gp=general purpose platform. jeep is a brand name not a type of vehicle. u also dont mention what type of vehicle ur talking about. dodge calls that wagon ur driving a car. gm calls a tracker a light truck. hmmmm! dodge makes rubys and yj. thats their off road units since day one. if ur driving a grand cherokee which is the new grand wagoneer. it has traction control (very unpredictable wheel spinning). thats a sign of a soccer moms car! very capable soccer moms car. much more so than the toyotas. and way cheaper in my opinion. comfy safe. they take a big tire without modification. shorter wheelbase in a toyota. but the toyotas that have ifs have tighter turning radius. personally i thin its a great car. rigid frame. are the new ones ifs????? it seems some new jeep brands have straight axle and ifs! does any body know?
this was a post on rubber. but it seems like everybodys got to bitch at the simplest detail. please back ur argument. or start a new thread.u just make it hard for readers.
Technically the cops can ticket you on your own property if the see you in operation of a MV fyi.
Dude you really need to STFU cause you talking out your A@@ yes we understand you have your opinion when the rest of us have a different one. Btw the 4Runner and the FJCruiser share the same running gear and suspension many guys run FJ springs and Shocks in their 4th gen 4Runners I did look at old land cruisers but way to long and wide plus need something drive everyday and to tow meaning less than 10 years old and low kms. I'm done posting in your little thread rants. Actually your typing makes it harder for readers not others posting a relevant opinion from their experiences.
Here a vid of a stock 2003 4Runner on the mainland.

When did Beer N Meat say he drinks and drives? I've yet to find this written anywhere...
I'll keep this short and sweet - quite simply put, I agree with a comment reflected towards you in another forum and I think that this opinion is becoming wide spread...
it stated 'personally, if I ever see you stuck in a ditch I'd rather run you the fuck over monster truck style than pull you out'. -Amen.
I can't....I don't even...What the hell just happened here?
False alarm... just another daily case of Local Guru being a dumb f*ck and pulling 'facts' out of his anus. Apparently you posted on here that you like to drink and drive.... however it seems to be one of those posts that can only be seen if you're a dumbfuckguru.
island ex! someone got smart and removed it! i was warning the guy and u crap on me for it! ur the jerk! now u dont like me because i write essays here that u dont like or agree too. do us all a favour and please dont read my threads! you put me down instead of backing an argument. if u dont like my opinions or my facts why do u read it. u threaten my life over me trying to save someones ass. whats the point of that? if anyone does agree with me karmas on my side. using derogatory terms and inappropriate language on a all age site will get u banned! do you know how many kids and teens read this? there are other sites for people bashing! now we know how u will treat others in the woods that dont agree with you.
this is a warning!
uve now publicly threatened me with your statement
" run you the f''''k over monster truck style" sounds cool but a great way to get sued and end up in jail!. do u own a house or insurance? scarring someone like me out of the woods is worth a few million. i work in the woods! u dont know me but i have friends that know u. this is club and ur ruining it for everyone. and again this is a warning so u dont make the same mistake twice.
it was removed by the author!

byte me! i never mentioned fjs! they are way to new for me! 30 grand is out of my league in the bush! after they r 10 yrs old ill have to buy one and do some trials. i have a good friend who has one but hes a pussy with it. and whats with the derogatory comments? just rebuttal the arguments, make points and share facts. we are here to have fun and share knowledge! if im wrong id like to know. but if u cant read i cant help u or even respond. why dont u tell us on a thread about toyotas. im sure it be popular. ill ask u questions for a change. i had over a dozen toyotas and they all die well. lots of fun i admit but the rust factor sucked!!!! u missed when toyotas were in. it was 30 yrs ago. and the only real reason was the cost. same as mexico by the way! you could literally buy 3 for the price of one. sure sounds a lot like china. ever heard the term jap crap. they use recycled metal for one. u should know that most toyotas are built here in the last 10 yrs. i bet u have a sony stereo too!. after a company makes a name, typically the quality doesnt ever go up. japanese are famous for music power and not rms. they play the laymen factor: what u heard and never read must be true. commercial are great liars. chances are if its free or cheap knowledge is probably a lie. anything on tv is just to make economy. i cant speak for 2003 and up toyotas. i hear tacomas are made in a chev plant in california and some town in mexico. since mid 90s or whenever they came out. designed in cali for sure. cant miss the chevrolet styling! i really dont keep up with the wagons. if the army wont touch them thers something up. us and canada uses tacomas. but they really arent toyotas and neither are the fjs. price almost double since they started making tacomas here. better parts, better steel, finally designed and not just shelved parts glued together. u do know that all toyotas made in japan are glued and tacked together? even dodge make one piece or welded seamed bodies since the 90s. it is the sign of japanese manufacturing!!!!! great for cars. but not half as strong as a seam weld by a robot. u can take a hammer and pound apart a toyota body. u cant do it to any north american made. other than vehicles manufactured the same way. and there are many. all rusty because the water gets in the cracks. toyota also purposefully didnt put any drain holes in their sealed box frames. i am talking built in japan toyotas. they have a bout a 10 yr life span. any chevy since the early 90s is all galvanized. most are 1 piece ka-chunked.
the cops have to have a warrant to come onto my property. or at least have probable cause of bodily injury! know the law and ur rights. we chased the cops away many times on private property partying! theyd have to prove why they came onto private land. especially if there was a gate or obstruction. for them to open a gate is trespassing. just like u or i. rcmp are supposed to be here for public safety. hard for a cop to prove drinking and driving in ur own back yard is hazardous to anyone.
if u look closely at the toyota flying through the air i can see a pair of some cool shocks just on the drivers side. broncos in the day came stock with quad shocks in the front. all the hot rod stickers along the rocker panel is a give away! :) it sure dont look stock. theres chrome in them wheel wells. also toyotas have 2 ft of wheel travel? and like i said fjs are built here not in japan. i never mentioned anything newer than 2000 or fjs. or xrunners. i said land cruisers. it also looks like ifs suspension on all the new toyotas. in my opinion that pic u posted might be called a toyota but its built like a late 90s blazer!
and for the record has anyone seen a desert on the island? even one sand dune? i know we have a bit of sand in the interior. im sure it be fun sand too. most sand is drivable with skinny tires. beach sand is usually the sinkable kind. if the deserts been there for millions of years its stable.
when i was talking military tires. the company that makes the vehicle that year is what goes on them. from the 30s to the 80 they were almost all bias ply. less than 80km. i cant speak for new army vehicles. how much is a humvee? and for a 3 ton plus truck the tires arent that wide. if u do the weight to tire ratio they are skinny compared to 33x 12 on any toyota.
and about inspections: all i said was if i can tell from a distance so can the vehicle inspectors. u guys are putting words in my mouth. thats just have derogatory effect. im trying to save all ur asses. they are coming soon to shut us all out of the woods. if u dont believe me go check out chemainus river. its landscaped and guarded from one end to the other. this post was about tires so why bring it up here! especially since none of u can read! using the term not so many words is ur opinion. not the facts of the words. like inspections would care. lol! unless ur driving by one of them on the highway! ur just making yourself look bad! just because u want to cut me instead of refuting the facts. cant get an idea together in writing. or maybe just angry! like island ex!
all you guys suck. arent we supposed to be discussing things, you all sound like a bunch of kids. other than rds71! he posted what he thought was fact. it was an experience he shared. thats great. i did try to explain it. the snows not safe here. its always to close to melting. its tricky here. but most of you are arguing nothing i even said. u made stuff up! whats with that! calling me names and telling me in a derogatory fashion to not post! U DONT HAVE TO READ! stay in the dark. get busted. do things the hard way. i just wanted to talk tires!!!!!!!!! will somebody, anybody please talk tires! if u dont drag me personally into ur comments i wont have a need to respond. best way is to start ur own thread!!! no ones going to take you guys seriously. what we write here is forever. and ur legally liable for what u say!
u guys arent worth sharing knowledge with!
willys for sale 4000$ u can jump this! and its 45 yrs old.
Oh don't take things so seriously - I obviously don't have enough lift to do that lol.
You need to do research before beaking off here right from the Wiki for the FJ " The FJ cruiser is built by Toyota subsidiary Hino Motors in Hamura, Japan since 2006" Boom fact! Get your facts together then people won't pick you and your ranting posts apart. Stop ASSuming shit my 4Runner as all 4Runners was built in Japan as well were the majority of the 120 platforms were produced. So much for all Toyota's have been built here for 10yrs. Plus the Tacoma, 4Runner and FJ all share the same motor axles for the most part just Transmissions and Transfercases are different plus the Military really have only used a Hilux not a Tacoma in Afghanistan which are quite different animals they also used Hilux Surfs which is what a 4runner is called in most other parts of the world. Plus Toyota's are still in you just need to open your eyes to outside the box your living in I know of 4 4th gen 4rs in my area that have a mild lift like me and bigger tires. All mine was shop installed and Inspected at an ICBC approved Inspection Facility. Again you need to use google and search some stuff out before posting and get the facts straight.
Wow I love how bitter people are haha.. just gotta realize that everyone has their own opinions and beliefs. What works for them and doesn't. Just cuz one guy can't stop rambling on with worthless half ass facts and can't back up what he says doesn't mean we have to read it. Sadly we all have the same thought and decide to read it and waste our time. Let the bullshit go haha. Not worth bickering and acting like a group of high school girls. We are here to build our rigs. Drive em and share.
if you cant read i cant help you!
i said tacoma for those that cant read! tacoma looks like a chev copy! i cant speak of all models. the us army uses tacomas for a reason! i dont know if they use fjs or runners! i also couldnt tell u which models are made where! its common knowledge that since the new standards in 2000 most models of most manufacturers are made here now! i know the lexus is made in canada! they have different road rules overseas!
i didnt talk about fjs or runners being made anywhere! thats putting words in my mouth! i wouldn't keep knowledge of wagons! only pick ups or gps! its just too much info! the surf is a unique thing! ive never drove one but that was a specifically designed unit!
The only reason you don't state that now is because you edited and removed it like you accused Beer-N-Meat of to "hide his tracks" Again the surf is identical to a 4runner sold here just that some are available with a diesel. Your creative editing will only get you so far.
what and the hell are you talking about! u seem to miss read everything i write! its all fluent. u just jump to conclusions! you're talking about different things that i never even mentioned! you're talking way newer than anything on this thread! i cant argue back and forth with 3 subjects. write a new thread! u have a newer truck. why are u even posting on this thread! the rest of us beat our 90s units and drive newer as dailys. not my fault your stuck with just one vehicle! im glad u like your 90s toyota! try making an argument! i tried to end the thread! my conclusion is posted. i will be erasing this line when u erase yours! you wont be able to bully me away!
Good article
http://arbusa.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/the-lowdown-off-road-tire-pressures/
Good article. I'm guilty of not airing down off road unless I'm in a sticky situation - makes me think maybe I should make more of a habit of dropping a couple psi when I hit the dirt.
It makes a big difference, in traction and ride on the rough stuff....there are some pretty reasonably priced OBA systems out there......dont have to have a tank, just a pump and a free flow chuck so you dont burn the pump out when it is running and not filling a tire. It makes these pumps cheaper as they dont require pressure regulators. I can fill my 35's from 10 psi to 35 in 12 mins.
OBA would definitely be so nice to have. Wheeled with my buddy from Alberta last night who has a super sweet JK with a real nice OBA set up with a regulator etc. Back seats removed for a custom aluminum checker plate tool box / storage replacing his back seats, under armor... all kinds of goodies.
He even took advantage of his OBA and installed a great big air horn behind the grill. He failed to mention that he had that particular mod installed - but decided to let me know by pulling up to me in the bush and showing me how well it worked. I think my ears are still ringing!! I'd dare anyone to cut me off if I had one of those!
Yeah OBA would be nice for filling fishing tubes I'm sure as well one of the main reasons I've been looking at them. What's a couple of brands that you guys could recommend
I actually own 4 vehicles right now 3 ready to turn keys, I had 5 but sold before the new year which was a 76 ford ranger great truck but didn't have the time for it. My back burner project is a 2nd gen 4runner 2dr, I also have an 85 XR4Ti, an 05 Corolla when I want ecno and of course the 03 4Runner. So go on and keep tooting your horn making assumptions of people that you don't know which is why I have such a problem with people like you on forums.
I personally went with a VIAIR 400H hardmount.....there was a sale so I got it for a better price than what Trailgear has it on for......couldnt pass it up. I went with VIAIR as well because a cousin has a lowered S10 show truck with air suspension and this is the brand these guys all go with because of the quality......it is a little more than other brands but I didnt want to be let down and only wanted to buy once
I'm currently working on OBA using my A/C compressor, have mostly everything to make it happen just need the hose and an oiler.
Princess auto for those componnents buddy
I know this is an old post but want to put in my 2 cents. My M38's and M38A1's all had military tires which I loved the toughness of. My first set of tires for my long wheelbase Samurai was a bias ply tube type Jeep Service Tire from Bridgestone. Except for the noise it was an awesome tire. If I ever get another flat fender that's what I'll run.
Glenn,
Would you happen to have more info on these tires?
I'd like to find some 33's in bias ply, about 8-9" wide for my zuk.
wow i never actually saw this thread haha at first thought it was all recent, was like wat the hell is going on here... anyways at the end of the day, everyone is welcome to the forum, and everyone are entitled to their own opinions, if you dont like it or want to bash on others, definitely not the place!
I know this thread is old im just restating that for all of us to hear
