Think I am leaning towards a tablet, just mounting it would be the trick. I think in my case I might be able to just get a case, put a hook through the back and just hang it from an air-conditioning vent.
Well it's good to know there are a lot of options, and that people have had good experiences with both the nav computers and tablet/phone apps. Also good that both have really come down in price over the last couple years :)
I'll probably just keep an eye on the flyers and wait for something good to come on sale.
It's nice to hear about somebody else having with a stock Expo.
Last week I drove the whole length of Nanaimo Lakes Rd. Pretty fun trail going through all the water holes, and pretty easy too. It does get a little rough just past Barsby Lake, but I got through it with very little drama (and back again since all the #@%ing gates were closed on the other side). Little bit of scraping bottom, but luckily that part of the trail doesn't have many rocks so it really wasn't so bad.
Took the running boards off, does at least look a little higher. I'll have to see if that chin guard under the bumper is actually guarding anything, if not I think it will have to go too. Definitely can't afford a proper lift kit for it yet (still have a couple more years of being a student), but I might at least look into a levelling. It has air bags in the rear, and eventually I'll have to swap them out for coil overs anyways. Pretty sure one of the bags is already leaking, but the compressor can keep up with it for now.
I think I will head out earlier tomorrow and go check out the Cowichan Lake area, never been there before. If I get back to Nanaimo early enough I think I'd still be up for an evening trek though. I'll PM you my cell number, if you can give me a text around 4ish I'll let you know if I'm back. If I don't reply it probably means I'm still in the middle of nowhere and have no reception.
