Anyone willing to help a noob? Friday or Saturday availability for most of summer

Hi,

Been lurking for over a year, but this is my first post. Feel free to reply and expect answers to test that I’m not a bot or AI lol.

I’m very new to off roading, but I know one of the keys is not to go it alone, at least when your skills are minimal. My long term goals are to take my girls with me on some off roading adventures, but I (and my wife) want to make sure I’m more proficient beforehand. I’m hoping to learn some fundamentals alongside more experienced members here, if that’s ok.

I can be available on either Fridays or Saturdays for much of this summer (starting next weekend, not this one coming up), so I’m putting it out there: anyone want to help a newbie out? Family man, late 40s, not interested in hijinx, and have a 201 LC200 willing to put in the work (already on 34 in KO2s, not the factory 20 inch rims).

Thank you!

Hello Jim. I'd be happy to tag along, but I have not kept up with all the changing road closures over the past 2 decades on Vancouver Island. We need someone more up-to-date to chime in here. The closures have been an on going frustration and it is generally not recommended to share trail maps or even talk about routes. That topic alone can be hot controversy. The next obstacle is lining up schedules with others. Seems like whenever I meet people on a run and try to make a future arrangement, it never lines up. We have gone alone on over 50% of our trips.

Like you, I'm a family man with a Jeep full of children and would also like some family friendly group runs. My wife says these events are a big waste of fuel, but the kids have a good time. I haven't been out in about 3 years. I know a few runs, but was hoping for learn some new routes. I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, 33" tires, locked front/rear, winch, onboard air.
