hey just got a uv-5r+ for my bday, figuring out the programming, do you need to have a repeater programmed in? can you just listen on frequencies like ladd 1 and other van island 4x4 without a repeater programmed in?
Hey welcome to the forum! cool to see the interest in our island, there is definitely lots to see :) I would highly recommend picking up a backroads map book for the island, it will serve you well! No matter what ( if you look at the island) youll have to go through port alberni to get to tofino, as the rest is water haha. I dont have an exact route for you, but i would recommend starting from victoria towards port renfrew ( this unfortunately will have to be paved roads) but theres lots of cool beaches to see on the way! Once in renfrew, you can definitely make your way to alberni with back roads. Theres a crashed Canadian aircraft site to check out not far in this area, look on this forum you should find plenty of pics and maybe even a map of it! Between alberni and tofino unfortunately I dont know much of it, but I do have a pretty sweet camp spot near tofino that is by a lake, back country! If your interested send me a PM ill give it you there
yea ive got 2 pods on lower windshield area, and a 22 bar on my bumper. Never had any issues with the pods over 2 years ( have had the bar only a few months) , but im starting to think I should get some covers before i get stopped for something else , and they ticket me for this too. My buddy matt also has 2 pods on lower windshield and he has been stopped for it, but got off free because they were wired yet.
Definitely seemed to be more layed back here than on the mainland though from what i hear!
wow i never actually saw this thread haha at first thought it was all recent, was like wat the hell is going on here... anyways at the end of the day, everyone is welcome to the forum, and everyone are entitled to their own opinions, if you dont like it or want to bash on others, definitely not the place!
I know this thread is old im just restating that for all of us to hear
