Off-Grid in the Comox Valley Area

Hi Everyone! I'm relatively new to the Comox Valley coming from Alberta. The island has some beautiful country and I'm curious if there's anything in the area (not owned by the forestry companies that gate you in / fine you) where a guy can get some mud on his tires.

Back home we had large areas of crown land available for camping, mudding, OHVs, shooting, etc. Anyone know of anything like that around the valley? I'd love to get acquainted with some good spots.

Thanks in advance!

There is some fantastic wheeling in your area for all skills levels and builds.
Some of it is private land and some not. Mt Washington, Forbidden plateau, Cambell river rock gardens, and beyond.

Private lands are gated but if you look around a little usually close to the gates (within a couple hundred meters) there are usually bypasses.

I will NOT publicly tell you where trail heads are or how to get to them, but am more than happy to help VIA private message.
If you are on Facebook I suggest joining a couple of groups who have members in your area.

Comox Valley Jeep Club (No you don't need a Jeep to join, they do not discriminate)

Dirtchurch Vancouver island

Outsiders

Vancouver Island offroad

BigDiff4x4

Westcoast Jeeps (No you don't need a Jeep to join, they do not discriminate)

I'm not sure what you drive but there also some Toyota groups you could join, although they like to discriminate if you don't drive a Toyota, to them everything BUT Toyota is shit.

I'm also not one to trash another group but if you were smart you would stay away from the group "SticksNStones" They have made a name for themselves and not in a good way.

Also, I've been wheeling for years and years and have NEVER been fined for being somewhere I wasn't supposed to be.

I've been asked to leave but never fined.

Thr problem with charging someone with trespassing is that they have to prove you seen a sign stating you are crossing onto private property and its very hard to prove where you entered onto said private lands.

That would be great, thanks man. I'm up there relatively often; usually once a week.

I have not been in the bush since mid July, unfortunately its just too danm hot and dry and I don't want to be that guy who inadvertently starts a fire.

Late September, early October I'll be back atter though, just need a butt load of rain.
