Hello everyone.
I'm new to this forum and recently moved to the island. I just wanted to start out by saying what a great site this is so far. Love the GPS map locations, so much easier to understand then the guy going, "just follow the gravel road..." lol
I'm in victoria but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good, relatively close places that are good for using as a shooting range? I don't want to pay the crazy range membership fees. Only looking for a 300 yard range and a place for trap/skeet shooting.

Hey welcome to the Island (and vioffroad)! Unfortunately you're in the 1-1 zone which is no shooting as far as I'm aware. You'll need to go to Sooke at the very least to find somewhere decent for shooting. I don't know any specific areas down there but if you come as far as Duncan I could point you in the right direction - pretty much anywhere west of Duncan is easy pickins.
Definitely. I wouldn't mind finding a few trails that lead to a good range spot. Just didn't want to have to go completely up island (past Nanaimo) to find a good spot. I'll have to message you sometime in the near future when I head up there looking for a spot. Thanks!

Its really Duncan and up. Not much in Vic area.
Out of curiosity what are range fees around here worth? I've thought about getting into shooting but not sure I need to get into another big $$$ sport.
up east or north main out past sooke
There is Main just past shirly 25 min outside sooke. It was used for shooting,hunting and 4x4. Bear creek area.
