hi everyone i just came across this web page and looked like what i have been trying to find for some time. i do alot of camping and 4x4ing up in renfrew so if your go up there you may know my truck. did a lot of work to it last winter getting it all set up but had a little to much fun this summer so now have it off the road for a bit well i fix it up and try to sell my other truck. well its off the road i want to get a CB for it cuz my buddy i head out with and i'm sure a few of you guys that i will be going out with when i get it fixed have them. the thing is i know nothing about them. can anyone give me some info on what to look for and what to stay away from?

this site has loads of good info. typically you get what you pay for, k40 firestick are both good names for whips. uniden and cobra for units. Research is priceless. your antenna should be grounded directly to the main chassis of the vehicle. I noticed alot more feed back from the power source (i dont have it wired to the battery direct) however feedback went down to respectable levels from when it was mounted on the hatch to now on the tub.

I just got a new CB the Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB off of Ebay for $218.00, i do know there are a few folks down in Victoria and the surrounding areas that may have a basic 40 ch radio to sell, but i wont have that info until after the Victoria Cber's Reunion on May 15 2015 being held down in Victoria at the Tim Hortons behind Uptown Mall.
There are bound to be several 4 wheeler's down at that event that would be more then happy to help get you set up.
