Figured I'd start a build thread and random picture dump for my Sur Ron Light Bee X. The Sur Ron is an electric motorcycle / e-moto, but really handles more like a heavy downhill mountain bike with power.
As with all of my vehicles this one wasn't stock for long. So far I've added an EBMX 72v 42ah battery and ASI BAC8000 controller, as well as a bash guard for the motor, new pegs, and a small riser bar. I also plan to do more upgrades in the future including bigger wheels/tires, though I haven't decided on the exact setup yet.
The bike in its current form absolutely rips and gets me pretty much everywhere I want to go. Range is great so far. I just got back from a ~45km ride with around 1k ft elevation gain over 3.5 hours, through a mixture of tight single and fast double track and the battery still had 40% when I got home. I think you could safely get 70-80km of throttle heavy riding on the setup as-is though I haven't tested it to dead yet. I get tired before the bike does.
The awesome thing about this bike and one of the main reasons I got it is that it is absolutely stealth and offers a perfect middle ground between mountain biking and dirtbiking. It is small, light (~100lbs) and nimble, yet extremely powerful and keeps up with much bigger gas bikes even in the straights. I can ride right out of my garage, down the road, and into the backcountry without needing a trailer, gas, etc. I can go wherever I want and nobody bats an eye, and most importantly, gates cannot stop me. I really think this is the future of riding, at least it is for me.
I'll update the thread with more as I do some more riding. If anyone else in the Alberni Valley or on the Island has one and sees this, I'm looking for riding buddies!
