Wolf Mt Mine Site

Hello, was wondering if anyone out there had any idea how to get to the old Wolf Mountain Mine site or how to access the logging roads on Wolf Mt. I have heard it's not easy to find and it can be found by going up the south My Benson main off Nanaimo Lakes Rd or on the power lines below. Thanks

Its the second left past and behind the gate on the way to Benson, it does a big sweeping left and then runs south for a couple hundred metres. Can be easily seen on google earth as the big black landing at end of road. There is really nothing to see anymore as the entrance is collapsed and the area is a logging landing now which has pretty much decimated it......maybe somethings to find with a metal detector but has likely been picked over 1000x's over.

Dead Horse mine on Decosmos is more interesting as it is a hard rock mine so the tunnel is still there.....doesnt go in very far. Again google earth is a way to find it if you have the photos turned on.

Thank you. I will have to check it out. Where is the main road to go up Wolf Mt, back side of Benson. I always could see all the logging roads from Old Mill site at a First lake but never found how to get up to them.

That map shows how to get moms minivan to the mine. I thought we were wheelers. Poke, Poke

If you look really close at that same map.

Not 200 feet from the Y at the 142/Nan Lakes gate there`s a left that goes up the mountain the hard way. A few turns later, 2 rights and a left and you come into the backside of the mine. 33`s and a dislike for a shiny scratch free jeep are required.

We had campfire wheenies not half a km from the mine just last night in the last patch of sun we could find.

I was at Wolf Mt Mine today and managed to find the mine entrance, also a vertical shaft that`s been filled and is sinking and a natural sink hole caused by erosion that is big enough to get down and access the mine. Even managed to get a good size sac of coal for the cabin on those cold winter nights
