I live in Sooke and have been keeping an eye on Butler Main. I have yet to find it locked or anyone there anymore but i have heard its only open from sun up to sun down. How are you getting into Muir, ive never seen that gate not locked past blueberry. Besides Forebay and North Main (usually pretty heavy logging traffic) I dont know of too many easy ins around Sooke.
This is unconfirmed but I heard through the grape vine that the area people drive out on to at Pachena bay (that little cut out that keeps getting dug up) has been bought back by the reservation and being expanded into their campground so that is probably going to become a thing of the past. Again unconfirmed but changes are supposed to be coming to that area this camping season.
