Driving Onto Beaches

Hi all!

I have recently joined the forum since moving from Vancouver to Sooke. I am wondering if there are any ocean beaches on the Island which can be legally driven onto.

Heading down to Baja a few years ago I found that every west coast state and all of Baja had certain areas where you could park on the beach for the day (though often not overnight).

So far I haven't found anywhere on the island where this is possible, although I can imagine there are some secret spots.

There is nothing here on the island like that. Legal or otherwise. Long beach used to be but no longer.

Sure there is. The only "legal" areas that come to mind are Indian land. Renfrew for starters.

Thanks for the replies guys! It looks like the camps at Port Renfrew and Pachena Bay are the best bet

This is unconfirmed but I heard through the grape vine that the area people drive out on to at Pachena bay (that little cut out that keeps getting dug up) has been bought back by the reservation and being expanded into their campground so that is probably going to become a thing of the past. Again unconfirmed but changes are supposed to be coming to that area this camping season.

I was at Pachena on New Years and the campground seemed pretty closed off to the beach. Great place though!
