loggin rd

hey, anybody familiar with the old logging road from Nanaimo river rd, [ nanaimo lakes rd ], that shows on google map, that it connected to north shore rd, lake cowichan ..[ youbou] ..
is this run still possible? or know of any ways to do it regardless ?
thanks !

You wont be able to get far if there is snow up there and I think there is. From Sidney I can see lots of snow on Mt Whymper.

To get there go past Youbou to Kissinger Lake which is 1 km west of the head of Lake Cowichan at Heather Campsite.
Go past Kissinger lake until you get to the Junction of a paved rd. Left goes to Nitinat Lake right goes to the Nitinat River Valley Go right and head north towards Port Alberni along Nitinat river You may encounter a gate or 3 on the route and if you do it will be at Redbed Creek .
Once you start climbing the hill you will come to a red gate marked LC120 it may be locked but if it is just go and explore from Cowichan end its fun out there

I drew a yellow line and marked a few gates for you. Redbed creek gate is right at a small bridge. past the bridge a few clicks is a concrete bunker which used to hold TNT for road builders the buoilding has cool graffitti on it ACDC KISS Arrowsmith etc etc Most of the nitinat road you will be on is asphalt

thanks for that. Its definitely wet and most likely white out there in spots. Im in Nanaimo myself, but have a buddy in youbou,. so, definitely on a mission to establish a way to do this route, or perhaps plough a new one where possible!. But this wet weather means wash outs everywhere right now im sure.
I did get a craigslist reply from a guy saying dirtbikes have done this route not long ago , but, trucks... hmmmm. whole new plan.
Hoping to hear from more people that have been in there lately . The more info the better ! Thanks guys...

I never did try, I figured with the rains and snow this past month, its a wash out everywhere . So, I still don't know if its accessible or not. Im told gates open on weekdays, and some say its shut down ..
