Almost everyone is now using VHF/UHF.
If you're on a budget you can pick up a set of 2 Baofeng UV-5R radios for a decent price.
They will be able to communicate with the FRS and GMRS radios out there as well as the commercial trucking frequencies and the resource road channels that are used for traffic control on FSR's. They come blank though so you need to have them programmed or buy the programming hardware/software to do it yourself.
I have a Retevis RT5 which is very similar to the Baofeng UV-5R, and it is compatible with my radio's programming hardware/software.

Does anyone have any cb stuff they dont need anymore? I'd like to buy a vehicle mounted unit. A antenna. Cable. Mount. The whole setup if possible. Used suits me. Working items only please. No idea how to repair these things.
