Finding a route into Gordon River Main

Hey folks, I'm wanting to check out the Mt.Bolduc plane crash site this weekend. I know Gordon River Main is locked at the Cowichan Lake end, but I don't think there's a gate at the Port Renfrew end, but I'm concerned that the cops might have it blocked off or the protestors. Does anyone know if you can still get in there? Everything is shut down tighter than a gnat's a**hole in the region and hard to find access.

I've been told that you can get to it from the pacific marine rd. but the guy that told me was on a adventure bike, I have no idea what the gate situation was/is

We tried last weekend: no go. first there was a major washout due to the heavy rains and Gordon River main was closed off, but speaking with a security guard, they've put in new 60 gates and nobody can get in, which is pissing off a lot of locals used to backcountry access. The entire area is no man's land for now. It's possible that during the weekday with active logging happening some gates would be open, but not outside working hours.

ya I talked to a mosaic security guy beginning of summer and he said to get all the camping in the area you can now because lots of new gates are coming.. after doing a trip to the north island last month, it made me realize how shit the backcountry access really is down here, I've always wanted to move to the Cowichan valley, but more and more the north island is looking better

I spoke with South Island Natural Resources District this past week. All of the Gordan River Main temporary gates have been removed by Teal Jones. Almost all of the temp gates are now gone. I am told this webpage will be updated shortly. It's a good resource for knowing where new gates are and how long they will be there. There is one for each district in BC. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/natural-resource-use/resourc...
