Visting VI and wanted to say hello!

Just came across this website. This is our first time in Vancouver Island and I'm just blown away by it's beauty. You guys really live in a special place. We started in Victoria and have been driving up the west coast. Not too much "overlanding" other than trying to get lost on the occasional forest road but we're excited to have such great weather so far. We love how close you always are to either a lake, an inlet or the ocean.

If anyone has any suggestions we're in Port Alberni today and will be headed north from here and eventually turning east then headed down the east side of the island. You can actually follow us in near real time since we use APRS on our truck. Below is the link if anyone is interested. Please let us know if you want to grab a beer or anything. We love to meet locals who are into off road adventures.

Welcome to the island! Cool tech, and awesome photos on your 'gram. How far north up the island are you going?

Looking at your location right now - you found one of the nicest lesser known lakes on the Island! Nahmint is a killer spot - there are some really nice hidden beaches on that lake too past the campsite with enormous trees and beautiful sandy beaches. Anyway enjoy the north island and if you're up for an impromptu meet on your way back down I'd be happy to show you some local trails in the Cowichan area.

We're not sure yet actually. We're playing every day by ear. I think it would be fun to go all the way north if possible. Anything you'd suggest in the north?

Glad to hear we found a good place! It was a great campsite. We did walk down the lake and found some great little beaches and big trees. The sunset was killer! All the rolling fog through the trees and the sun lighting up the fog across the lake was amazing!

Just landed in Tofino and are prepared for some busy streets and no vacancies! Hopefully we find a good campsite tonight!

That would be great to meet up. We'll be leaving through Nanaimo to Vancouver but want to see Cowichan Lake before we go. Hopefully the timing is good!
