87 samurai. complete body modification. no longer a rag top. cut in half. fiberglassed. and built a box. currently running a small lift with add a leafs and shackles to fit my 235 75r15 remington mud brutes. fun toy. cheap 4x project

Is that the factory wheelbase? I don't know anything about samurais but damn that thing is short - must be nice getting over almost anything without getting high centered!

yea shes stock. barely lifted. just added mudders and i havent been able to get stuck yet. other than trying to get up benson again on tuesday. only thing that stopped me was 6" of snow. was still a fun trip though

I know a guy that put 37's on one of those, then ended up rolling forwards end over end down a hill. it was pretty funny. His solution - chop it and stretch the frame by 14", build a new custom box and cloth top. that thing was awesome, it would go anywhere a quad would go.

yea iv seen some pretty big samurais. iv heard that once you get them to a certain point they just arent as much fun.. the normally hard trails just arent as exciting.

ill probably make this one a bit bigger so it can atleast flex a bit. but mostly stock..

im a suzuki fan but im an oldschool fan. radar and all those army guys never raised their vehicles. they got around everywhere on a stock set up. im amazed at where samaurai n trackers can go stock. the trackers take 235 15 and thats wide enough to make them float on mud and ride smooth on sand. a tracker was 10 000 in its day and went everywhere. amazing vehicles. made in toronto.  jimnys are samurai are hard to find. but u can find a decent tracker for 3000, tires for 600 n ur ready to go. lift kits are cheap n easy to install for these too. 

u also mentioned flexing. i had an old 3/4 ton chev. it flexed and it went everywhere.  i do know that the trackers dont flex. u jack up any 1 corner and two tires come off the ground.  u need a floating rearend if u want to keep all ur tires on the ground. if a samurai could bend it have to be a pretty weak frame. the weight of that old chev is what made it flex. id say it flex up to 8inches. i was amazed at where it went. roads where bigger in them days it seems.

if we try to keep the vehicles mostly stock more people will get interested and the manufactures will build off road units better n cheaper.  i am speaking of keeping 2dr jeep style vehicles stock. other than rock crawlers.

sammys can flex! sammy rears with a little rebuild and customization work wonderful in the front with cj rears in the back. a normal one peice shackle is good enough but you add missing link shackles with a locking pin to make it solid for on the road and your set! z link steering (not made n e more by breeze) works but high steer is gold, and then add a little tracker power steering and some decent 31'' meats and smiles on your face. lockers or welded would be nice but keep it open and you will still have a challenge and that makes fun. fuel injected tracker motor is huge as well! damn sammy carbs!

i like the looks of that half cab! looks like its time for some custom bumpers! i was going to do my sammy and build a little falt deck but i wanna sell mine now.

the samurai is back on the drawing board... have some spring perches ordered up from RRO with plans to complete the spoa plans. have everything on the front end ready to go and loosened off. andone got some tips? only thing i see so far is im short a couple jack stands...

spoa installed! took the majority of the day. still need to deal with the brake lines a bit. and weld the perches. only downside is the rig is unuseable this weekend...
