Well the old road from Silverlake over to the Laramie mine is now doable winch mandatory for one spot and I definitely recommend at least 3 inches of lift decent tires and a locker

We went out last weekend and had to turn around due to snow yes the gate is closed all the time now unless you have or part or are part of the Wildlife Fish and Game Club things there is still three ways in to anywhere behind the Chemainus main gate

ok thanks thought it was all locked up but a buddy said it was open all year. looking to get back in that area in the next few weeks but think i'm going to go over by hillcrest 60 and in that way but if it does not work i will head over to the gate and see if i can find a way behind

You can get in through hill 60 down and cut over to the 222 road there is a new gate on the 222 road and the big gate on Chemainus main line at the canyon is always closed as well

Not as much for trails more open logging roads but a few good spots to camp on the river with some trails mud and riverbed to play around on. If your looking to go up let me know I can help you out with a spot

How do you plan on getting to sherk Lake Chemainus main line is gated the 222 road to the river crossing is gated but you won't get across the river and the new route pushed in from Youbou I believe is covered in new trees at the far end as they are logging there

i dont know never been there just saw the post about guys going there the other year and thought you could get in off hill 60 even when the main was gates back at chemaius. dont know where 222 road is?

We tried getting to sherk this Sunday.
Had to turn back due to snow. We just about made it. We had the furthest tracks. Looks like no one made it any further than us.

Snow is about 2ft deep. Problem is its old snow. It's really packed and thick. Hard to get through it.
Chemainus gate was open so was the other one.
There's a bypass for both gates. One bypass can only be done in summer as the river was way too deep to cross.

I suggest to wait few more weeks before attempting sherk.
Pm if you have any questions.

oh nice thanks for the update jas, good to know! where were the gates at, and which way did you attempt? And in terms of bypass's, are they like hardcore quad bypass or would be doable with lets say, my truck?
