failed the pass/fail pressure test.. back to the drawing board.. actually it was back to eBay to order more aluminum soldering goop. i fucked up one of the anadized aluminum fittings thankfully it wasn't soldered in the fitting.
got the welder whip in the mail so Sunday was weld day my buddy brought the little miller out of storage and we wired up a 240- 120v extension cord splicer to run off a dryer plug or oven plug which really lights up this little machine, got my stuff mocked up previously in the week so it was a tak tack tack show till it was ready to come out for full penetration welds.
Well a prohibitive schedule is something we can work around, if there are better days of the week that work for you or I should say for all of us throw it out there, started this discussion to get the ball rolling. Nothing is set in stone, and if I have to I will put off this shindig till the new year if that makes it more convenient to get more people involved.
UPDATE
I'm looking for suggestions for dates and time. ie, before Christmas and new years or after? I know this time of the year gets busy
I think were all set and happy with the slag piles as our location.
Suggestions for games, tug of war or a timed obstacle run.
if anyone has an RTI ramp they could bring out that would be pretty cool too! get stretched out
Maybe a few little group runs around some of those little trails,
or all as one big group.... ....around some not so little trails?
Help with food and drinks What do you like? pop, water, sandwiches PBJ, ham? chilly&buns?
possibly other easier to setup rain tents for eating and maybe gathering under?
If you don't know where the clay pits/ slag pile are let us know we can post up a gps track to where were going to meet up.
I was thinking most guys don't like to be up too early on Saturday & Sundays. so probably say shoot for a 10am meet come early to help set up. tents if we agree they would be a good idea?
I am not a rich man so my ideas of providing food & drinks for all may prove a little far sighted so when we formulate a solid plan try to contribute with food drink or something...
there are loads of little trails up there that just go everywhere, and it is a good spot to get some of the newer guys introduced to the area. I started this discussion to get the ball rolling and hash out some details, more or less I just want to get as many people involved at once as I can. so that we can all put a handle to a face and really share ideas, trails and tech.
I was going to produce a pulling pamphlet to hand out to help guys understand what kinda forces they are working with when using recovery gear in a multitude of situations.
I'm hoping that eventually this could turn into an annual thing that attracts a good crowd and gets more of the public involved. kinda turn it into an expo sortta thing in five-ten years and hopefully attract attention of international teams and enthusiasts alike toward our quaint little island.
we have a great core group of knowledgeable, respectful and understanding people, working together we can accomplish anything.
