group meet and greet

I want to organize a show and grime/ meet and greet for the sites growing followers,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., I am thinking the only real place there is to do this and have enough room to get everyone involved and still get some wheeling in will be the slag piles up in behind mt sicker/ prevost. this way people from both Vic and naniamo can attend with ease.

only concerns I have is going to be getting unfamiliar groups to the location. maybe we could bother a local business or park to allow us access for a function like this? we could invade a Tim Horton in the Duncan area. or just post up in the parking lot of the Duncan mall or the new parking lot up by Canadian tire?

Ideas guys! I don't have a truck but I do have a bbq to use for cooking rot dogs on. and could also bring my driveway cover along to keep the rain off our heads if the weather is off.

I am thinking either the end of November either 22-23rd or the 29-30th. or if we cant agree on a good time for all of us then after the new year in mid january 17-18

I want to have a good array of appies for everyone a few drinks of WHY some hot dogs and maybe make up a few fun games. like tug of war, obstacles.

gimme what yah gots

Sicker sounds good. Seems to be the place to be these days :) What is everyone else up to later Nov? Definitely looks like we've got a few new members in the last while.

I'm (for the most parts) always game to go wheeling in that area. Meet and greet would be fun as long as there's some trails involved.

there are loads of little trails up there that just go everywhere, and it is a good spot to get some of the newer guys introduced to the area. I started this discussion to get the ball rolling and hash out some details, more or less I just want to get as many people involved at once as I can. so that we can all put a handle to a face and really share ideas, trails and tech.
I was going to produce a pulling pamphlet to hand out to help guys understand what kinda forces they are working with when using recovery gear in a multitude of situations.
I'm hoping that eventually this could turn into an annual thing that attracts a good crowd and gets more of the public involved. kinda turn it into an expo sortta thing in five-ten years and hopefully attract attention of international teams and enthusiasts alike toward our quaint little island.

we have a great core group of knowledgeable, respectful and understanding people, working together we can accomplish anything.

Mt. Sicker is a great option. was just up there again today. absolutely loaded to the tits with wheeling trails and mud pits, and i defintely agree it would get some people very stoked on wheeling if they aren't already lol. I am up for a meet-n-great one of these weekends, how soon are you thinking ??

Sounds fun. Unfortunately my schedule is pretty prohibitive, but I will do my best to attend.

Well a prohibitive schedule is something we can work around, if there are better days of the week that work for you or I should say for all of us throw it out there, started this discussion to get the ball rolling. Nothing is set in stone, and if I have to I will put off this shindig till the new year if that makes it more convenient to get more people involved.

UPDATE
I'm looking for suggestions for dates and time. ie, before Christmas and new years or after? I know this time of the year gets busy
I think were all set and happy with the slag piles as our location.
Suggestions for games, tug of war or a timed obstacle run.
if anyone has an RTI ramp they could bring out that would be pretty cool too! get stretched out
Maybe a few little group runs around some of those little trails,
or all as one big group.... ....around some not so little trails?
Help with food and drinks What do you like? pop, water, sandwiches PBJ, ham? chilly&buns?
possibly other easier to setup rain tents for eating and maybe gathering under?

If you don't know where the clay pits/ slag pile are let us know we can post up a gps track to where were going to meet up.
I was thinking most guys don't like to be up too early on Saturday & Sundays. so probably say shoot for a 10am meet come early to help set up. tents if we agree they would be a good idea?
I am not a rich man so my ideas of providing food & drinks for all may prove a little far sighted so when we formulate a solid plan try to contribute with food drink or something...

I'm up for a meet and greet. Being new to the island, it will be great to meet new ppl and see the rigs. I won't have anything ready for this year, but next year I hope to

I'll keep my eye on the dates. Due to work, I can't really commit to a solid timeline, but if this gets going and I'm free I will head down the island for the meet and greet. And meat. That's neat. Ok, I'm done.

definitely gonna wait till next year guys, but this just gives us more time to plan, and in my case build/ rundown, and help out some fellows. still looking for ideas, thinking of building a collapsible rti ramp over the winter so I can say yah I got that.

pluss life has been just fucked lately.

alright so back on track, here's the million dollar question. when the fuck should we hold this thing? dates are wide open I am thinking something as many people as possible will be able to attend. Easter long weekend? spring break? just another weekend? between new years and march? everybody chime in!
