I haven't done that route but I've done Lake cowichan to nitnat and not a gate in site wide open logging roads. Almost nice...
I'd say hill 60,my provost or mt sicker, just be smart what trails ya take...or take someone with you who knows the trails.

Hey and head to duncan to go up hill 60, mt prevost or mount sicker! All have trails that range and get ya somewhere.
