4runner bumper

Well it was a Friday night, few wobbly pops deep, and my buddy Blair suggests we make a bumper for the ol' Runner ... seeing as i have no steel around we decide to build it out of 5/16" Aluminum. I ended up passing out at about 130 and Blair asked me if he could continue building it. Ya no prob dude! Anyways turned out pretty nice! I need to fill in a few spots still and smooth it out a bit more, but its pretty beef for my camping/exploring truck. i should post some pics of the aluminum raised bed in the back with underneath storage drawer, and my dual battery setup and stuff.. Im attempting to make this thing a vancouver island exploration/camping unit. Dual batteries, bed, big drawer, ARB fridge, solar panel, Propane hot water.. any further ideas would be great! Aluminum rear bumper to come soon =)

Looking good! Any plans to put a winch in there?

I've got a bed in the back of my 4runners too - it's nice to be able to just stop where ever and you're already set up for the night. If you're looking for more ideas for an exploration rig, something I've been wanting to do for a while is dual gas tanks - I always have my spare up on the roof anyway and could easily fit another tank behind the rear axle without losing any real clearance. It would be nice to be able to do long bush trips without refueling (not many gas stations out in the middle of nowhere).

Check this thread out....on page 4 he starts into making dual tanks with a pretty funky way to fill both tanks from the stock location....very simple idea.

Yeah when i find the right deal I will plasma cut out and plate for a winch for sure! my buddies got a spare 8274 he may part with. I like the idea of the dual fuel tanks! Checked out the thread, he must just point the nozzle into whichever tank he wants to fill eh? Yeah that makes sense.. its now on the list lol. I already have one aux light in the "bedroom" but i was thinking of switching my interior lights to LEDs. So for the eccotemp propane hot water is the best mod in my eyes 50$ score off used vic =)
