Stay tuned then, I'll be posting some info for a run on Mt. Sicker this Sunday.
Just two of us in right now but looking to make it about 4-5 max, hoping to show someone new around maybe.
We're lightly modified daily's so no crazy shit for us... well, maybe just a little bit of crazy shit... ;-)

I personally would like to go Saturday too but Sunday seems to be the day most people are free.
If you can't find a local run or at least a trail buddy by Thursday evening then perhaps we can figure something out.
The GF & I have this weekend off together which only seems to happen once a month so we are planning something for Saturday, just not sure if it's going to be wheeling or not yet...

Yeah, more people seem to be interested in Saturday than Sunday on this one.
I'm flexible for time this weekend so it looks likely we'll (also) do a Saturday run.

Where we go beyond the initial trail will depend somewhat on the weather and on who/what is going and whether or not we can all make it through the gauntlet OK. It is a bit of a challenging trail if you're not used to driving off road but stock Jeeps with good tires will be fine, lightly lifted Suzukis with good tires will be fine, Yotas with good tires will be able to make it no problem, just don't bring your granny in the all wheel drive Forester or Escape on this one. It should be doable for just about anyone with a "real" 4WD and a bit of experience driving it on actual terrain. If you can get through the trail going in OK, you're good to go on just about anything beyond that. If someone has too much trouble or the entry trail or it turns out to be too sketchy due to ice or a new washout or something, then there is a contingency plan to take the "easier way" to the "fun part" of the mountain.

We will certainly hit the Tyee tailing pile, that is just too good to pass. I may try to get up that ugly washout that defeated me before I had my lift and new tires if it isn't icy. We can also stop by the clay pit if people are new to it, but I personally don't really like the place myself. Could roll by the famous waterfall trail and If it's too snowy/icy up higher, we can just cruise down to Hillcrest off the river park trail and have a quick lunch at the forestry pools and maybe finish off on some trails by the power lines, or even take the Hill 60 connector trail out. If there are new people to the area it's more to show them some ins and outs.

Cool sounds like a good plan, ill see if i can make it! any idea how tight these trails are? im familiar with hillcrest / hill 60 area and no problems there, what about these sicker trails? Only reason im asking is im driving a limo lol. a offroad limo

The Old Sicker Rd trail is not a tight trail, there are even a few places where traffic can pass in both directions. Should be full size friendly.
Once you're on the mine side it's all pretty open as well. We'll see how high up we can go and if it's too nasty we'll just head down the Chemainus River side over to Hillcrest for a lunch break at the forestry pools and hit a couple of the powerline trails or maybe even leave out through Hill60 main connector.

Old Mt Sicker Rd Trail is the plan Lance.
Haven't been through since I took my current profile photo though, back in October I believe. By the way, that's the rock shelf that drops you on to the mines side of the hill where most of the fun stuff is. There is always a remote chance a big tree came down over the trail or it got washed out but if the trail was effed up I probably would have heard some mention about it through the grapevine. Even if it is, that just means we have to go back and take the long way around. There is one other way to get in from the Mt Sicker Rd side but i don't think it's going to be an option for some of the vehicles we're likely to have there. Off-roading is about adventure after all, what kind of adventure would it be if you knew exactly what to expect on your journey eh? ;-)
