Nanaimo Trail Run March 22nd

Last chance for me to get out before my shoulder surgery next Monday so.....We will be meeting Saturday March 22nd @ 10:30 a.m. at the top of Dumont **track entrance** and going from there to......who knows.
No special requirements i.e. lockers, winches. Just come out and have some fun for the day.

So far there are 2 Jeep XJs going, anyone and everyone is welcome.
If you can't make it for 10:30a.m. but close to it we will wait around for a little while, If I don't hear from anyone we will hit the trail at 10:30a.m.

Sweet... possibly head through the back side of Boomerang and then do some exploring for the day.
Larry... I know you mentioned Dumont but I can't help but wonder if we might have a little more fun exploring the extension area in a little more depth...

Ya I just figured it's a well known place to meet...I'm up for exploring extension though. Dumont around Benson really shouldn't take that long no? And that would put us right in extension yes?

Richard if you have any suggestions feel free to chime in, It's been 20+ years since I was wheeling in Nanaimo ( Minus the few times I've been out this year) and am really not that familiar with the trails anymore.

Generally yes, getting from Dumont to Nanaimo Lakes Rd (which could lead us to extension) would be a pretty easy run but the last time I was out there they had everything tank trapped to the point where there was no chance of getting through. Unless I can make a new discovery between now and then, I'm not sure how to make that connection anymore. It's been a month or so since I checked and it's amazing how quickly things change so I might consider taking a run up to Nanaimo Lakes for a little evaluation.

Had a blast yesterday guys, definitely want to do this again with you all.
Sorry Welshy I didn't get any pics of your truck doing some of the gnarly stuff as you were always the first through.
I'm pretty sure one of the other guys must have though
Thanks again guys.

Too bad I missed out on Saturday.....I did get out today and did a little exploring with the wife.....found some fun routes that has a lot left to be explored out around Barsby Lake.

Picture is from up by the Wolf Mountain Coal Mine site http://www.westwatermining.com/library/wolftour.html

Too answer a question from before IslandExploration......I found a route around that is relatively easy like you were wondering.

Was pretty disappointed to see the amount of trash dumped out there......even if the more out of the way places.....such a bad sight.

Well Fatty, we'll have to try to get together next time. We're just starting to come into the good wheeling season anyway.
I've been wanting to explore a little more in the Barsby area. I've seen a lot of trails I've never adventured down - mostly due to lack of daylight and not being familiar with the area.
And yeah, it's getting pretty ridiculous with the amount of crap being left behind anywhere. This is why we have gates... because people won't respect the land.
Good pic by the way.
