Snorkel for Chevy

Hey there, just trying to find the best way of going about putting a snorkel on my 98 chevy 1500. I was thinking of buying a kit for a landcruiser and newfie rigging it to the truck, but I'm unsure if engine size has to be taken into account for your air intake. Truck has a 350.

I think most snorkels are pretty similar in size - I would think if you can find something that fits the body of the truck alright it should be fine for the engine. If you want to be sure just measure the smallest part of your intake tubing and compare it with the snorkel. My snorkel has ~3-4" piping on it. If anything you might be getting more air in the engine than before as it acts as a short ram when you're moving.

Yeah I figured, the air intake on a v6 and v8 is the same for the 90's chevs, so it's just a matter of making sure the tube lines up. Was also considering running the intake into the cab, but I don't know if that would be pretty loud, or cause problems of its own.

Running your intake into your cab is very noisy I don't suggest it. If you don't like the look a snorkel you could always run your intake up into the cowl like I did.
I modified my air filter box and ran some 3" RV sewer line through the firewall and now it takes air from beside the wiper motor. No noise and I know I can be in water up to the bottom of my windshield (Not that I would ever do that) but it's not pulling from behind my headlight anymore.

That's a good idea, though the stock filter for my truck is pretty huge so finding a way for it to fit back there will be tricky. Wonder if running sewer pipe before the filter would work instead.

You could use a setup like this couldn't you and eliminate the stock filter all together?
Google "Cowl intakes" it should give you some good ideas on how to do it.
