Suitable for Trucks

So I’m new to off roading and was wondering if there are any routes/trails that would be suitable for a truck.
I have a 2005 F-150 V8 Triton, has a bit of a lift kit already, and a grille guard.
So yeah looking for any possible routes or trails, and I’m also open to any possible mods to do to the truck.
Thanks

Welcome! There are endless logging roads you could have a lot of fun on with a full sized truck. Unfortunately most of the "real" offroad trails on the island seem to be made by quads and UTVs, so they're pretty narrow even for my 4runner. You'd get some pretty serious pinstripes. Many of the trails I've seen also have pretty sharp ditch crossings that your long wheelbase could present a challenge.

There are a bunch of forum posts with recommendations already, so look for those to get a better idea, but here are a couple off the top of my head.

Hillcrest Rd - https://goo.gl/maps/NZj6YkMxcBYbi4YB6
Start there, and you can go up and over Chemainus River Park. Especially good in the summer, when you can take a dip in the river to cool off.

Ash Main outside Port Alberni - https://goo.gl/maps/Eah95EPQRaNAz2DR6
Start there, and you could do 100s of km of logging roads. Tons of camping and side trails to check out.

Hope that helps! Enjoy :)

Oh yeah, Mount Arrrowsmith would be a good one too. Shane had a good post about it: https://www.vioffroad.com/forum/routes-destinations/mt-arrowsmith-mt-cokely

Thank you so much, I saw his post about Arrowsmith and immediately wanted to explore it. Definitely gonna have that in my sights!

Welcome! And yes like Alex said there are a ridiculous amount of logging roads in valleys, up mountains, along lakes, rivers, etc... to explore (as long as the gates are open..) that your truck will be more then fine doing. I am pretty new here too and the forum has been great with everyone sharing their experience, advice and answering any questions I ever had and will have in the future I am sure!

See you out there at some point I am sure!

Cheers!

Yup, definitely can get around with a truck but there may not be anything you can do that's too extreme. Doesn't mean you can't have a good time.

The suggestions above are great. Nanaimo Lakes is great, you can check Mosaic's website for gate hours. The hump in Port Alberni, maybe called Loon Lake Road is another gate worth driving around, lots back there (I think that leads to Mt. Arrowsmith) You can also grab a backroads mapbook from a Canadian Tire or gas station and just see where it takes you.
