I have heard that BRM sucks a bit on the island, sorta like we were an afterthought LOL! ;-)
I have the BRM Okanagan edition and it's been great for the areas I've been exploring with it.
Someone had ported a bunch of high end topo maps to a Garmin compatible format a while back and posted them online but I was never able to figure out how to load them as they weren't licensed and are not recognized by the loading software as a valid mapset so I must have missed something in the process of getting them on your device. All I know is I can no longer stand the crappy TOPO Canada, it's constantly trying to send me down non-existent roads and routing me 40km off course to go around errors in the continuity of existing roads. TOPO doesn't even have the Veterans Memorial Highway or the Nanaimo bypass in it FCS! It's next to useless now for road nav and equally frustrating in the bush when you realize that surveyed road on your map from 1979 doesn't actually exist.

I'm running an OME suspension in my 2nd Gen Tracker and the improvement in ride quality and overall suspension performance over stock was very noticeable. Their springs added just over an inch of lift on their own but I also used coil spacers to get just over 2". If you are just going to jack up an existing suspension then just make sure to get a complete kit that is designed specifically for your Jeep. I have seen a lot of lifts that are missing parts that would be needed to get the full benefit of the lift. Some people just a get a lift for show but if you want better performance you need to consider everything that is affected when you lift a vehicle's suspension.

I guess I'll have to add the LAD channels to my VHF then. I didn't think local wheelers would be using those frequencies. The BC 4x4 Association designated 146.460 as the official channel for off road use in BC. I guess in the hopes that establishing a common channel may be handy when someone is in trouble and other wheelers are in radio range. I have never heard a peep on that channel here though so I don't think it has caught on for the island yet. I scan the FRS/GMRS channels and often hear people on those. I usually make a note which channels I pick up traffic on because it seems your chances are much better of reaching someone that way in an emergency than randomly calling on every channel and hoping someone is on their set, not in CCTSS mode and willing to respond.

When's the last time you were out there in a truck?
A friend of mine in Shawnigan recently told me Weeks is still gated and the way he used to get around it is only really passable with ATV's and dirt bikes. I haven't been out that way since about 2012'ish so I don't really know myself what it looks like now. I'm curious if it's actually wheelable in a modestly equipped DD..?
