CJ-8 Build

I have lost most of the original pics of the stock so we will start with a low budget spring over. I mean no budget... I ground the back 20" and tire carrier untill I just couldn't take it any more.

2018 moose trip went down a road/ creek bed and managed to get a moose on day 2. That meant 26 days of ripping around and camping. Heaven

More build pics had to recover these from photobucket so the quality is a little blurry

Damn just checking out your build again, I recognize that old picture with the cops checking the rig out.. Pretty sure I remember seeing that posted somewhere a long time ago. Maybe on island4x4? Can't remember but got major memories from seeing it haha

That was a low day for me....lol Think it was 2012 Island 4x4 good thing we didn’t have the beer my passenger / photographer was trying to guilt us into. Trouble maker. Funny thing was the other rig in front of me was my buddy in a hydro steer samurai that didn’t even have break calipers in the front and his bloggers on Toyota axles stuck out about 10 ´´ on either side. He drove off into the sunset.
Someone posted 3 cops 1 Jeep

Had this Jeep since 2002 this is the first time I can clean my windshield without reaching out the window will a bottle. The original one the motor was seized and when I built the exo I didn’t have room on the driver side.

Looking from the front axle back the frame was raised and fabed a much higher engine mount for the 3rd link clearance. I made some aluminum clamps for the break lines and air line to run along the link.

That’s a wicked build man! Can’t wait to see it in action in person!

Thanks Adrian
Labour of love for sure. Puts a smile on my face even if it’s just a grocery run

Finally had to pull the head because valve noise. I have had an issue before where the valve retainer broke where it seats in the valve. Look close in the pics you can see where the rocker has been contacting the spring cup. Same issue same valve. Going to try an older head off a 93 4.0 $150 from the wrecker.

Any update on the transmission issue from our last trip?

That’s weird?!? Is that a “thing”for those engines or maybe just that head and valve train if it is the same valve that acted up before?

I love those old inline 6 cyl. Solid engines!

Oh and I got those skids on! Thanks man! I’ll send you pics!

Same old problem acting up with the head. Soon to be fixed. Transmission broke in a weird spot. Just shifting too hard and it must have had a flaw

Update valves out of my spare motor and lapped in. Sounds way better had my spare off so a look at how I made the bumper and tire swing. I made lots of space to move the mount for a larger tire....future plans
