I'd be mighty surprised if you could hear Langford from Vic. The distance is really dependent on terrain. In the trees you're lucky to get a few km - I imagine it would be the same with cities.

I didn't mean he would hear me. i was just stating where i lived. meant for him to just keep in on over the next few days on ch 14, might here some chatter.

Haha fair enough, although! Yesterday it was a super nice clear day, and I was picking up somewhat clear signals from many guys on many different channels, and they all sounded like they had thick American south accents, and sounded like truckers... I couldn't believe it, could it be that I'm really picking up that far? Even if it's just Washington, it's still pretty far for cb

Yes thats all trucker traffic in the states. Its all about the shapemof the radio wave. And how it interacts with the environment like reflecting off the atmosphere. Also i think they may be broadcasting with more than 4 watts of power which will widen their broadcast range.. its like the difference between am and fm waves

Yea fair enough, the frequency waves are probably sub refracting or ducting in a layer somewhere up there, and Yea they probably communicate with more power, there's no way we can send our transmissions that far
